Manuscript Review Stage
General Concerns:
- Editor-in-chief has the authorization to accept or reject a manuscript;
- Editorial boards do pre and post-review of the manuscripts;
- At least two peer-reviewers reviews the manuscripts;
- Editor protects all materials submitted to the journal and all communications in this process;
- Editor checks for plagiarism using Ithenticate. If there is plagiarism indication, the submitted manuscript will be rejected;
- Manuscripts are double-blind reviewed in which reviewers do not know the author's identity, and vice-versa.
Pre-review Process:
- Do the title and content of the manuscript suit the vision, focus, and scope of Verbum Christi?
- Does the abstract contain at least: research objectives, research methods, and results?
- Introduction:
- Does the background of the problem relate to the title or abstract?
- Does the manuscript provide a literature review from other journal articles?
- Does the author state the research gap and novelty in the manuscript?
- Does the author include the organization of the manuscript?
- Has the research objective been stated?
- Has the thesis statement been stated?
- Research Method:
- Is there any rationalization for the application of the research method?
- Does the author explain the data analysis process?
- Discussion:
- Does the discussion follow the manuscript's organization, described at the end of the Introduction chapter?
- Did the author analyze following the explanation in the Research Method chapter?
- Conclusion:
- Are the research results able to respond to the research objectives?
- Is the thesis stated justifiable?
- Is the manuscript written scientifically? Furthermore, does it have correlations between paragraphs?
- Does the manuscript follow the Author's Guidelines and Manuscript Template?
- Does the manuscript indicate falsification, fabrication, and plagiarism (with a maximum 25% similarity in Ithenticate of the article's content, excluding footnotes, bibliography, and in-text citations)?
- References:
- The ratio of primary sources should compare to other sources (i.e., journal/proceedings of at least 80%);
- Up-to-date (i.e., from all journals in the bibliography, at least 80% sourced from scientific journals within the last ten years);
- Active footnotes and bibliography link;
- Correspondence between footnotes and bibliography;
- Journal articles must be followed by Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
Review Process:

- State of the art
- Novelty
- Thesis/argumentation
- Research method compatibility
- Results and Discussion:
- Validity
- Discussion between research result and theory or concept
- Conclusion clarity
- Reference sources' relevancy and accountable
Post-review Process:
- Does the manuscript contain elements of ethical violations, such as plagiarism, forgery, and fabrication, or are they being reviewed in other journals?
- Is any part of the manuscript not revised according to the reviewer's and editorial boards' corrections?
- Is it following the Author Guidelines and Manuscript Template of Verbum Christi?
